Camping in Panama
There are magnificent locations in the country to get intimate with nature, and what a better way to do so than on a camping trip? However, camping in Panama usually means getting away from it all, with no infrastructure of any kind, just you and nature.

Camping Destinations:

Beaches & Islands Beaches are public property in Panama, therefore you should be able to pitch a tent on any of them. Just make sure you leave no trace behind once you're gone. And before choosing your spot be aware that the tides on the Pacific side can change up to 18 feet/5 meters.

National Parks Some parks and protected areas offer the possibility of sleeping on tents inside their limits for a small fee.

Native Communities A very cool way to experience one of the native cultures in Panama is by staying overnight with them, for example with the Emberas, or by choosing one of the many small island on Kuna Yala.

Camping Gear:

New You can buy inexpensive tents and sleeping pads on any of the "Do it Center" and "Novey" hardware stores in Panama City, Santiago, and David. In Albrook Mall (right next to the bus terminal) you can find hammocks with mosquito nets and other camping equipment at the "Acadia" store.

Rent There are a few places in Boquete renting camping equipment, check out "Habla Ya Language Center", and "Mirador Adventures".

PANAMA TRAVEL:

Rainforest Hiking To the untrained eye the rainforest can be perceived as a big blur of green, making it an easy place to get lost. Never enter a trail in the rainforest without an experienced local guide.
